Hey Guys,

I have had a real problem lately with accepting invites into parties or practice, and I get an error that reads, "NAT settings are set to strict, your party is not compatible"

I have called tech support, and they have assured me that they fixed the settings, but when I run a internet test on live, it still says my NAT settings are strict.

I am getting super frustrated, because I dont know how to fix this myself, and I cant go to practice, or matchmaking...

This all started when I switched providers and got a new modem.

So, my apologies for being absent most of the beginning of this month.

Does anyone have any idea what a NAT setting is? And how I can fix this myself?

Thanks in advance!! :)

I just got that this morning after the update. My NAT was always open, now it says strict. I don't get it either.

I have that problem occassionally so I have to go online to my router site and go into admin section and make sure the.....I think it's....UpNp...something like that...... is set to enable and then save. At that point I rerun the troubleshooting on my 360 and it's open again.

Well, this is what I got out of NAT

Q: What is NAT and why do I care about it?

A: In extremely simple terms, NAT (Network Address Translation) helps determine how your router interacts with the rest of the internet. If your NAT settings are restrictive, you may have problems connecting to other players. To test your settings, go to the Xbox 360 Dashboard and test your connection. At the bottom of the test results, you will see your ‘NAT Type.’ You want it to say ‘Open’ – if it says ‘Moderate’ or ‘Strict’ you may experience some problems.

I'm not quite sure how to fix it :[

Thanks guys ;) I'm just going to switch internet companies, since we obviously cant reach the bottom of the problem to fix it. However, I can get into rooms with some people, just not everyone... Which leaves me frustrated! :)

The router I have allows me to adjust the NAT settings. Have you checked your settings on your router?

Yeah, I have. The only problem is I use the internet from my work office, (since I live at work) and I really can't do too much about it. We're not supposed to be running an ethernet cable into our apartment :) lol

We just recently changed phone companies, and they switched us to a netopia modem, so ever since then I have had problems.

I am just going to call comcast and get my own internet... It frustrates me not to be able to play with who ever I want, whenever I want..

I fixed mine. I had to upgrade the firmware for my router and now it says NAT Open. Guess it needed the gaming ports open or something. Sometimes with I was a little smarter when it comes to computers and such. :?

Yeah, apparently, it's unfixable. I've called comcast and set up a date for next friday to get my own internet, so I will see alot more of your faces in about a week or so..

I'm so sad :( And I miss you guys :(
