Like we are not trying to get respect as girl gamers as it is, and they go and do this. Female gamers in skimpy clothes with controllers as a prop? I mean...get real, shame on these girls for even talking to, or posing for these losers. We have been in a battle for respect, and for us to be taken serious about our love of gaming, and someone has to pull this crap. I am pretty mad about this. I think we need to write the magazine and GameGirl and let them know how we feel about this nonsense. I'm gonna anyways.

umm, yeah... I have to agree with you... they don't look like gamers... they look like porn stars, which is probably exactly what they wanted.

I can't even begin to tell you how these articles make me sick. As if girl gamers don't have a hard enough time getting taken seriously, we have ones who think doing things like that is a good idea.
I posted there...had to edit my post quite a few times...cause all the things I really want to say aren't nice.

I completely agree with the three of you. Did any of you take a gander at their side bar and see this link?

I left a comment also. I just feel sick and almost betrayed by these girls. Here I am, trying to be taken serious about being a female gamer who loves the game, and they go and do this. They should be ashamed. :evilfire:

I'm sorry LadyLuck, I know you write for them and all, and I hate to bash them. But goodness! One step forward, fifteen steps back.

Haha that's not me. That's a completely different LadyLuck. But I agree with all of you. Very depressing to see this.

I saw the name LadyLuck and had to click on her profile to make sure it wasn't our Mandy! It's real nice that she shows her "lower back tattoo" as one of her profile pictures.

Females who play games are a unique sub-culture in their own right, so a special focus on them is okay. But sheesh, couldn't they make it a little more tasteful? The guys who read that article will be like "phwoar, boobs!" rather than "awesome, she plays games too". I mean c'mon, how many female gamers actually look like that?
Just thinking about it is like banging your head against a wall. Epic fail, GameGirl.

lol... thanks... and I am starting to feel like we're yelling at a brick wall...
I looked at the specs of these two girls, Raychul and Nikole:
Nikole's (the brunette in the article) gaming turn ons are "games with diamonds, puppies and babies." omg.
And she, "co-hosts a podcast on TheStream.tv called The Game Show." How in the heck does this girl co-host a podcast on GAMING?!?
Raychul's (the blond one in the article) gaming turn ons are "guys who are good at games but not cocky about it." wow. She has "an independent modeling career." She has also "appeared in Electronic Gaming Monthly, the late Playstation Magazine, PC World, and Penthouse for an article on gamer girls (no I wasn't naked)."
"I am also a part of a group of gamers put together by Sony called the Game Advisory Panel, we beta test games and complete surveys on multiplayer options, game characters and game content."
It sounds to me like this girl has rode her "looks" to the bank, and has found an outlet, gaming, that is hungry for "hot" girls that are willing to show some skin and say, "I like games!" for money. I don't think I've ever lost so much respect for an organization so fast... oh wait I have... but let's not open up that bag of pms... I mean worms. But at least they actually played the games.

I know you all are going to hate me....BUT I think telling them they can't represent girl gamers this way is just as bad as telling them they have to represent girl gamers in this way. Being a woman is about having the guts to choose for yourself. That's why I choose DSO and not something like that because this is the way I wanted to be represented in gaming and as a woman. For me, this is the respectable way, I guess others feel different. I think the best way to combat this is to come out (maybe not us, but in general) with articles with pictures of us, in our own comfortable clothes, discussing game strats, opinions on games etc. We can't tell them how to act, but we can show gaming that skimpy clothes isn't the only way women can represent gaming.

I love the passion, ladies.
Keep the discussion spirited, this is an important and emotional issue to all of us.
Please be respectful to one another if you are going to disagree.

It just makes me so furious and a thread like this one:
http://forums.filefront.com/general-gaming/379895-about-all-girl-gaming-clans.html
is why.
That kind of stuff is giving us a bad name. Us as women, us as gamers, and us as a clan.
It's like we can't win. I have nothing against the FragDolls. I think they're all beautiful women who can game like none other.
But it's like, we "can't play games" because we're girls.
We can't rise above it because we might be too short or too fat or too tall or even too bad (not everyone can pwn unbelievably) and we will be judged accordingly.
And those that meet the FIRST requirements are plastered EVERYWHERE for gamers to see where we are ALL THEN judged as too stupid or not real gamers or even pretty ones are said to be too UGLY! SINCE WHEN DOES GAMING HAVE TO DO WITH WHAT YOU LOOK LIKE?!?!? I mean read the thread! It's what they're all thinking!
In my opinion - most of those pro gamer guys look like they've never seen a shower or pimple cream, but hey I'm not saying they shouldn't be there because of it!

uh-huh. Did you see the section on "top 5 reasons you can make fun of a girl gamer on live" ????? :blow:
Here's what I don't get:
The comments about -
cooking and cleaning
being barefoot and pregnant
or (my personal fav) you must be fat and ugly if you're playing xbox :evilfire:
etc., etc., etc.
So, just a minute here -
I make over $20/hr at a LEGITIMATE profession where my looks/gender DON'T play any type of role.
So what if I am an excellent cook/baker (so is my husband)
I work, cook, clean, pay bills, grocery shop, play xbox with my friends, do yard work, take care of all the vehicle maint. (for 4 vehicles), take care of ALL the pets/animals on our propery, plan vacations, plan parties, remember not only my family's birthdays, but also my husbands, multi-task like nobody's business, - and they're going to make fun of me? Maybe because they're envious that in addition to HAVING A LIFE, and friends, and being in an awesome relationship, I also play xbox/video games. Have been playing them since PONG came out.
Do they not realize just how insecure and immature they sound by spouting off all these absurd cliche's?
I know I am not the best gamer out there. Mediocre at best, but I know how to have fun. And I have lots of true friends.
And how about all the AWESOME girl gamers in our clan? That kick EVERYONE's butt? :biggun:
Grrrrr!!!!!!!! :badmood:
