The Dark Knight

I know I already posted that I liked it, but here's the full review from my blog.
Duh-Duh-Duh-Nuh-Nuh DuhNuhDuhNuhDuhNuhDuhNuh-Duh-Nuh-Nuh
So, Iron Man was friggin amazing. I've never been a huge Iron Man fan, but I knew enough to think he was cool, and know what he is and isn't.
After seeing the movie last night, not only do I now consider myself to be an Irn Man fan, butmore importantly a TONY STARK fan, and by extension a Robert Downey Jr. fan as well. I've always thought he was a good actor, and I thought he was a perfect fit for Iron Man, but man, that guys is just COOL.
It's been noted that this is the first film from Marvel Studios, and it really shows. Since Marvel developed, produced, and paid for this film all on their own, it's pretty much 100% uncomprimised. It's Iron Man from the comics in every way. There's no Hollywooding it up here. This is classic marvel all the way.
I'd put Iron Man on the level of Batman Begins, and well above any of the X-Men or Spider-Man movies. Yes, Iron Man is better than Spider-Man 2, and coming from a Spider-Man fan, that says a lot. It's really simple.
More accurate character portrayal + better cast - hokey bs = Iron Man > Spider-Man 2.
I've always held Spider-Man 2 to be the top of the heap as far as comic movies go (aside from Batman Begins, which is untouchable), but Iron Man was just plain better.
Spider-Man 2 is a great movie, but it has some faults. Tobey Maguire's insistance on playing Peter Parker as a whiney, mopey loser instead of just an awkward nerd. Kirsten Dunst (who aloways looks like a wet dog) as supposed supermodel megababe MJ. With the exception of James Franco as Harry Osborne and JK Simmons as J. Jonah Jameson, all of the Spider-Man movies are miscast. There are even actors in Spider-Man 3 who should be playing OTHER ROLES in that movie (I'm looking at you Topher "shoulda been Spider-Man" Grace and Bryce "better MJ" Howard). Spider-Man NOT doing smartass quippy oneliners. All the "aw shucks, Aunt May!" hokey scenes straight out of the outdated, though admittedly important, 60's era of Spider-Man. The Spider-Man movies are fun, but they are cheesy.
Iron Man is one real kick *** movie. Robert Downey Jr, was probably the best casting job I've ever seen in comic book movie (again, Batman Begins not withstanding). Sure there have been some good ones, that LOOK like the character, and they get CLOSE to nailing it (Hugh Jackman comes to mind), but not one time did I think "He's doing a good job playing Tony Stark" He IS Tony Stark, and nothing nails that more than the last scene of the entire movie. He was aweome from start to finish, and I'll say I've NEVER seen a superhero movie end this way. I'll leave it at that. I loved how Tony's motivation is not some typical comic book thing where like, he gets powers, or he's got something to prove, nope, he just realizes he's caused some bad things to happen and he realizes he needs to right those things. There's not one eye rolling moment in the entire movie. Plus you just have to like a superhero movie that starts with an AC/DC song.
I really don't think this will be topped for a long time. A long time meaning July 18 when The Dark Knight comes out. But that's a character preference. I think Iron Man was more fun than The Dark Knight will be, but Batman's not a fun character. He's a badass character, and that's what The Dark Knight will be. Badass.
Watch out for a few Marvel fan service moments like Terrence Howard's moment with the Iron Man Mk. 2 armor. (war machine for the un-geeked)
And for the love of God, if you're a comic fan, STAY AFTER THE CREDITS.
So here it is:
1. Batman Begins (at least until July 18th)
2. Iron Man
3. Everything Else.
