I am looking to train for a half marathon in March however I have never trained to run (not even a mile) and do not know what to do or where to go to get some help.

Can anyone help me out?

Thx

All you really need to do is start running.

Start easy, to the end of the street and back, and then gradually build yourself up. Like to end of the street and down the next and back.

Even better is to go to a high school track (if your local high school lets the public use it) and start there. Run the straight away and walk the corners. Then build yourself up to doing a whole lap, and eventually not stopping.

I'm in the military so running comes with my job. All I can say is that you need to push yourself. Don't kill yourself, but make yourself sweat and work for it.

Also, work on maintaining the same pace. It's not so much the speed as consistency that matters!

I hate running. Since I'm in the military, and we do running with a group where we run for a specific time (meaning we run around for a whole hour) makes me want to bang my head to the floor and scream in incomprehensible gibberish.

But when I have the freedom to run on my own, I love planning my destination. They say, the best way to treat yourself is small victories. (Okay, i don't know if thats true, but hey :P phrasing it to a situation is a win-win situation).

So run to that lightpost, hit that curb and see whats at the end of that hill!

If you have my similar mindset, you'd probably go, "HEY! I wonder where this will lead me? Lets hit that!", if not... i don't think this would help you much... T_T.

Like Spitfire said building yourself up and also keeping a healthy diet will keep you in great shape.
