RUMORS about MLG, GB, Microsoft, DGsemipro and DGpro

Today I learned that DG will be setting up some more GEARS TOURNEYS! :mavbigsmile:

I'm not sure if this is a result of the rumor that Bungie and Microsoft bought MLG and Gamebattles, however, if it is true, this is GREAT NEWS for the GEARS division.

It is BAD news for the COD division. :confused:

Why? Because MLG & GB will only be supporting Microsoft titles....

Again... good for Gears, bad for COD.

The deal between MLG and Microsoft is unconfirmed so treat it as speculation.

Awhile back MLG announced that they wouldn't be hosting any GOW tournaments at the events anymore.

Also MW2 most likely wont be at any of the events because the ability to lan is not there. The game doesnt work the same offline and they said it would be to hard to set up a big tourney that meets there expectations. MLG has been trying to work with Infinity Ward since COD4 to fix the lan problems but Infinity Ward still hasn't helped.

Also Bungie is not owned by Microsoft anymore. They broke off from Microsoft shortly after Halo 3 launched. But Microsoft still has the right to develop Halo games. Reach will be Bungie's last game of the halo franchise.

Where did you hear these rumors? Im curious too see if there is any truth behind them...

Well the rumor came about MLG .... and then there was other indicators like other non MLG ladders putting Gears back up b/c live MW2 competition hopes were completely shot because of licensing issues, not LAN issues.

Previously, I had heard that they (MLG) worked out the LAN problem with MW2 and that they were just going to have an internet connection at the venue, putting everyone on the same internet connection during the competitions.


Like it says, all rumors. I keep checking for some kind of confirmation somewhere but no luck.


REMINDER: get registered on DGsemipro, they are one of the ladders adding Gears 2 back, supposedly.....

yes DG has set up more Gears tourneys but they are only 1v1, and 2v2 no 4v4's...The admin for the 4v4 Gears Ladder told me that there is only 6 ACTIVE teams on the ladder. and also the likely hood of Gears getting back on the ProDGL is very slim until they have more active teams.

DSO Akumagi is in DGsemipro, we've been signed in since the 15th of March we sent out 8 challeges to 8 different teams, and have had 6 open challenges.....no body accepted. yep really Pro.

Hello I'm Am A Bungie QA Testing Developer I can tell you I honestly haven't heard anything like this I will contact Bungie's Community Manager to let them know about this rumor and to address it accordingly .

Well I read some discussions about COD being canceled due to another bug in the game. The 3 weapons 4 perks hack. There are tons of threads about it in the MLG website. I've read that MLG does not want to host the game on any unfair ground so until those bugs get fixed we won't see COD in MLG and gamebattles. They did say that team ladders can still do COD but not the ones from MLG

If the MLG ladders supplied 2 ref for games and made games scheduled and not when ever, then it could be done.
