I was actually wondering if any of you that play Call of Duty 4 have a preferred class or gun that you use more than others. I know it depends a lot on the map being played and stuff, but for the moderately open map, say District, Downpour, Overgrown, Pipeline, and others in that vein; what class and weapons do you like to use?

I use two classes mostly:

1st Class:
M14 - Red Dot Sight (Sometimes ACOG Scope)
1st Perk: Frag x 3 (or Flash x 3)
2nd Perk: Stopping Power
3rd Perk: Deep Impact

2nd Class:
M4 Carbine - Red Dot Sight
1st Perk: Frag x 3 (or Flash x 3)
2nd Perk: Stopping Power
3rd Perk: Deep Impact

As you can see, I tend to stick to those perks, probably because I haven't branched out and tried combinations of the others yet... Hopefully we'll have some really good custom classes pop up here ;)

Heh, My Sniper class is set exactly like yours... Gotta love those claymores. When there's no one to watch my back, they watch my back. ;) Really though, even if the claymores don't kill anyone when they explode, I know someone must be close from the sound of the explosion, so I can get into a position to take them out as they're on their way up to me. It's really nice to block all entrances to a sniper perch with those, that way you don't have to worry about your teammates watching for people to come up and that adds another team member to the front lines of battle as well. And having one more person on the front lines can really turn the tide... that and it's always satisfying to hear that explosion followed by a +10 on your screen :)

1st Class:
M40 Sniper. Reg Scope OR R700 with Reg Scope.
Pistol(Silenced)
Flash Bang/Reg Nade

Perks:
Bandolier
UAV Jammer(When available)/Stopping Power(When UAV Jammer isn't available)
Deep Impact

2nd Class:
RPD with Grip
Pistol(Silenced)
Flash Bang/Reg Nade

Perks:
Bandolier
Sight of Hand OR Juggernaught(once in a while)
Deep Impact

Those are the main weapons I use anymore xD

Any others and I do really crappy with. It sucks.

The RPD is a respectable weapon if it's used right for surpressive fire and not just random "spray 'n pray"

I try and stay away from the m16 and the barret because i personally think they are too easy to use and geared towrard weaker players ;)

M40A1/Gold Dragunov
1frag/smoke
stopping power
deep impact
bandolier(I watch my own back)
Matches(because nothing is like making S'mores while you camp)

Ak-47(Gold) with nothing on it
1frag/smoke
stopping power
deep impact
bandolier

G36 ACOG(i call it the anti M16)
1frag/smoke
stopping power
deep impact
bandolier

Ak-74(nothing on it)
1frag/smoke
stopping power
Extreme Conditioning
bandolier

And last but not least i have this class mostly for fun and not for how good it is.

Mini-Uzi
1frag/smoke
Double Tap
Extreme Conditioning
bandolier

i dont think the 50 or the m16 is neccsarily a gun used by weaker players
the m16 has many faults that other guns dont have like
the fact that it can only fire three burst when others can go full auto (yes there are times where u will fail if u only have 3burst)
and also the stats of the gun arent that great in the first place

and the 50 cal is only good in the hands of a good sniper
the accuracy of it is much lower than the others, therfore u have to mak ur shots count cuz if u just go bursting on the trigger, u wont hit a thing

The thing with the M16 is that it takes exactly one FULL burst to kill anything. The M16 is also extremely accurate at long ranges. The only thing that requires any real practice with it is point blank so the trick is don't miss close in and that one burst will kill whoever you want it to.

The accuracy on the barret is only lower if someone goes crazy on the trigger. It is basically a single shot kill version of the M21. Also you should try no scoping with the barret it has some crazy luck in the no scoping region. The only bad thing about the barret is the recoil but if you didn't miss the first shot then it doesn't matter.

Note:I didn't not take juggernaut into accout but it generally affects all the weapons the same anyway. Also don't take it as an insult if any of you use these guns the majority of CoD gamers do. I just choose not to and i was explaining why.

now I can reply since I play now... lol

The main ones I use are the:

M16 (I have two classes with this gun - one with the red dot and one with the acog)with stopping power, martydom, and 3 special grenades. - I've been told this is a nooby setup - but I'm a noob, so it's ok. :)

AK47 with the same as above.

M21 Sniper with stopping power, deep impact, and three special grenades

I just unlocked the G3 - so I still have to try this gun out to see if I want it on my classes.... I'm not too crazy about the single shots...

Typical Class I use:

MP5 / AK74u w/red dot
Bandolier
Stopping Power (Sometimes with MP5 I'll use Double Tap but not that often anymore)
Martydom / Dead Silence

Stealth Class:
MP5 / AK74u w/ silencer
Bandolier (Tho I'm getting bugged to use Bomb Squad so I'll see how that goes)
UAV Jammer
Dead Silence or before that Steady Aim

Snipe:
M40A3 reg scope
Depending on the map I'll use either Claymore or Bandolier
Stopping Power
Iron Lungs/ Deep Impact

I'll be honest about the 50 cal.. I don't like it lol Tho I admit it does have some amazing luck at close range. The whole "1 shot kill" is bogus when I'm using it. I get more 1 shot kills with the M40A3 than with the 50 cal. But its probably just me and my nubby sniper self.

EDIT: Sniperess: I personally don't like the G3 with the one shot and all.. but Defective can shoot that thing like it was an automatic >.> He's a cheater I swear! lol. :mavgiggle:

Hahaha.... Yeah, some people have a nasty fast trigger finger for that gun. For some reason I'm better with the M14 than the G3... even with its recoil :mavshock:. Oh, I started using the MP5 with Red Dot and Stopping Power last night, and I'm loving it so far :D .

I don't doubt it! Cheater cheater cheater lol :mavgiggle:

I LOVE the idea of a stealth class! That's so brilliant! I want to set up one when I get home... great idea.

Uh oh... Now we have to watch out for two Ninjas on the battlefield... Fushai AND Sniperess.... Greeaat... Just kidding guys. I like being a Ninja in COD4 too... I usually use a silenced SMG of some sort and a UAV Jammer. GO NINJA GO!!! <-- inane reference to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Tutles movie...

Haha, when we get competitive teams going for COD4, we should definitely have Team Ninja. Everyone uses silencers and UAV Jammers... I can just imagine the upset that would cause for the other team... especially if they get UAV Recon and nobody shows up... :D

I <3 hearing that while using this class. Makes the other team drop their guard so quickly :) Its even better on Bloc when you have all those snipers with their backs turned. Slasher challenge FTW

Yeah, Everytime I have UAV Jammer and a silenced SMG and I hear that the enemy has UAV... I'm like, oh yeah, my turn! :biggun: It's so true that they almost completely drop their guard when they get UAV. Headquarters is the bomb for getting kills with this type of class... because not only is their guard down, but they're also distracted with capturing the headquarters that they're all usually looking in the same general direction and make easy targets for a Ninja that is sneaking up from behind... :evilfire:

Alright...upon request, I guess I'll share my top secret Weapon/Perks combination with you guys. It'll probably get used against me like a giant airstrike-sized piece of kryptonite, but here goes:

(The following is NOT, I repeat, NOT directed at anyone here) I have to first start by saying I've encountered countless BKs and trashtalkers who have practically used every breath in their body to call people who use weapons like the M16, the Barret, and other similar weapons "NOOBS". To these people I say, "You've probably been killed by these weapons too many times and just because you haven't found a way to effectively counter them doesn't make their users 'noobs'......in fact, your inability to adapt on the battlefield makes you one." /end rant :mavshock:

It's really important that you never let anyone else's opinions of your weapon/perk combos or playstyle dictate how much fun you have with the game. Don't change your classes just because someone thinks they're too 'noobish'. When you start doing that, I've got bad news for ya, there is ALWAYS someone out there who thinks your combo is 'noobish'. So play with what you're good at and what's fun for you then branch out and try something new when you get bored or you want to get better.

So....without any further adieu....

I find the M16 hard to use personally. My play style is "run in and shoot as many as I can before I die and hope martyrdom finishes the job". So for me with my up close combat the M16 is definitely not the gun I can use. The M16 takes a more patient person. One that can't just rush in. I just got the Red Dot on it so I think I'm going to goof off with it tonight. Its going to be hard as I am not patient in COD4 land....
